Job Title: Director Legal
Job Responsibilities:
The Director Legal at the company is responsible for a range of legal tasks and duties essential to supporting the company's operations, particularly across sales, marketing, and credit divisions. Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting and negotiating legal documents and contracts to support marketing, sales, distribution, and credit teams.
- Providing clear and effective legal counsel on various issues, advising on contract risks, potential legal liabilities, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Assisting with . and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, as well as integration support for acquired entities as needed.
- Collaborating with business and functional colleagues to anticipate, research, and communicate relevant legal issues.
- Implementing and refining policies and guidelines to ensure legal compliance.
- Developing and providing legal and compliance training to company personnel.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues in the Legal Department, external counsel, internal business and functional teams, risk management, and insurance carriers.
- Anticipating, researching, and communicating regarding legal issues that could impact the company.
- Performing additional projects and duties to support ongoing business needs.
The role also involves developing and implementing strategic plans and objectives for the department in an innovative fashion, understanding the business to provide comprehensive department solutions, and working with other leaders to establish and achieve strategic plans. The Director Legal is also responsible for department staffing needs, participating in budget development, and monitoring expenses.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Director Legal position should possess:
- A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar of the State of Texas.
- Over 5 years of transactional experience at a large law firm and/or in-house experience. Experience in the manufacturing and/or construction industry is considered a plus.
Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates should have:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Professional. Experience with e-billing and matter management systems is advantageous.
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and develop and maintain positive relationships at all levels inside and outside the company.
- The ability to apply good judgment, a strong work ethic, and integrity.
People Management: The position does not involve people management responsibilities.
