Job Title: Entry Level Assistant District Attorney - Fall 2025

Job Responsibilities:
- The Entry Level Assistant District Attorney will be assigned to either the Law Division or the Trial Division, based on the needs of the office and the individual's demonstrated ability and experience.
- In the Law Division, responsibilities may include writing briefs and arguing before appellate courts in the Appeals Unit, practicing litigation and handling complex discovery in the Civil Litigation Unit, litigating petitions for writs of habeas corpus in the Federal Litigation Unit, and reviewing PCRA petitions in the Post Conviction Relief Act Unit.
- In the Trial Division, initial assignments may include handling misdemeanor trials and felony preliminary hearings in the Municipal Court Unit, managing delinquency hearings in the Juvenile Court Unit, or dealing with cases eligible for alternatives to prosecution in the Diversion Unit.
- Progression within the Trial Division could involve handling felony waivers in the Major Trials Unit or managing serious felonies in the Juvenile Court Unit.
- Assistant District Attorneys in both divisions are expected to manage their own cases under supervision, demonstrating fairness, empathy, and a strong work ethic.

Education and Experience Information:
- Candidates must have earned a Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Applicants are required to sit for and pass the Pennsylvania bar exam.
- A demonstrated commitment to public service and a strong academic record are essential.
- Ideal candidates will possess fairness, empathy, a strong work ethic, and sound problem-solving skills.
- Attorneys completing judicial clerkships, including Federal District and Circuit Court clerkships, are encouraged to apply.

Salary Information:
- Assistant District Attorneys are exempt employees with the City of Philadelphia and receive benefits similar to other City exempt employees.
