Title: Staff Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide immigration legal services to students, staff, and faculty at City College of San Francisco (CCSF) and other clients at the respective office.
- Conduct case management, including eligibility and risk assessment, full representation, brief service, and legal advice.
- File various immigration applications such as DACA, naturalization, family-based, and humanitarian immigration petitions.
- Develop relationships with community colleges and create opportunities to inform immigrant students about available services and options.
- Organize workshops, clinics, outreach activities, and information sessions for immigrant students and college staff and faculty, which may require evening and weekend events.
- Comply with policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices for non-profit immigration law practice, including legal ramifications, fee collection, and maintenance of client files and data for reporting requirements.
- Participate in peer review meetings and legal trainings.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and deliverables, and track client services, case progress, and outcomes.
- Train and supervise outreach members, legal interns, and other volunteers.
- Represent the organization at meetings and webinars and occasionally participate in media interviews and social media networking efforts.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor.
Education and Experience Information:
- . from an ABA-certified law school or international equivalent.
- Current bar membership in good standing is preferred; candidates pending state bar exam results will be considered.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in immigration law, assisting with consultations, eligibility assessments, and cases such as U Visas, VAWA self-petitions, family visa petitions, waivers, DACA, and naturalization.
- Demonstrated legal research and writing skills.
- Commitment to providing high-quality legal assistance and handling complex legal issues for low-income immigrant populations.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Outstanding public speaking skills in English, with the ability and experience to conduct outreach and education events to large groups and participate in media interviews.
- Ability to conduct outreach and education events in Spanish or another language is strongly preferred.
- Experience in developing and providing services to the target population is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, exceptional time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to act independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Commitment to serving immigrants and sensitivity to the needs of low-income, culturally diverse communities.
- Familiarity with the region and knowledge of community colleges and local resources is preferred.
- Proficiency in a Windows/PC environment and the ability to quickly become proficient in the use of immigration law software and database.
- Ability to travel to CCSF campuses regularly and availability for occasional evening and weekend services as needed.
- Bilingual – English and Spanish fluency is strongly preferred.
Salary Information:
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 – $80,000, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. The organization also considers internal equity when making a final offer.

Additional Information:
