Job Title: Visiting Assistant Professor of Law
Job Responsibilities:
The Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at a reputed firm's School of Law will undertake teaching responsibilities within the Law School’s Legal Research and Writing (LRW) program. The role involves:
- Teaching two or three courses each semester, covering both fall and spring sessions.
- In the fall semester, teaching a 3-credit, upper-level writing course to second-year law students (2Ls), which focuses on appellate brief writing, oral argument, and contract drafting. Additionally, a 2-credit, entry-level research and writing course is taught to first-year law students (1Ls), introducing them to legal research and objective legal analysis.
- In the spring semester, teaching a 3-credit, research and writing course that includes the drafting of demand letters, pleadings, discovery, and pretrial motion practice.
- Engaging in the development of student learning, fostering student development, and enhancing decision-making skills.
The position is a fixed-term appointment of two years, starting on July 1, 2025, and concluding on June 30, 2027. The visiting assistant professor may apply for any permanent position that becomes available during or after the term, although the hiring process for permanent positions will be conducted nationally.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must possess a Juris Doctor (.) degree with a strong academic record.
- Must have exceptional skills in legal research and writing.
- At least two years of experience in a clerkship or in legal practice is required.
- Prior teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Salary Information:
The compensation package for this position includes:
- An entry-level salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000.
- A research assistant fund.
- University benefits.
- Potential for additional compensation through summer teaching opportunities.
- Note that moving expenses are not covered.
