Job Title: Trust & Estate Planning Associate
Job Responsibilities:
The Trust & Estate Planning Associate at the law firm will be responsible for providing a comprehensive range of sophisticated estate planning, trust administration, and wealth management advice. This includes working with individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations on various aspects of estate planning. Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting complex estate plan and business succession planning documents for high net worth individuals.
- Creating complex charitable giving documents.
- Counseling clients on income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping tax planning.
- Assisting with probate proceedings for both taxable and non-taxable estates.
- Processing Federal gift and estate tax returns.
- Engaging in tax exempt organization planning.
- Utilizing strong document drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively serve clients and contribute to the team.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must meet the following educational and experience requirements:
- Hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an American Bar Association (ABA)-approved law school.
- Be in good standing and an active member of the bar in the jurisdiction(s) where they are admitted to practice.
- Have 1-4 years of relevant experience in estate planning, trust administration, estate and gift tax planning, and business succession planning.
- Possess a strong academic record and relevant experience.
- Be highly motivated with a strong desire to contribute to a team.
- Have a positive attitude and exceptional work ethic.
Timely admission to the Bar coinciding with the office of hire is a condition of employment.
Salary Information:
For applicants in Chicago, the law firm offers a comprehensive benefits program, which includes Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) Retirement, Disability and Life insurance, Adoption Assistance, and Backup Care for Dependents. In accordance with the Illinois Equity Pay Act, the expected salary range for this position is between $225,000 - $310,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
