- Paid position in the firm's summer associate program
- Up to $30,000 in additional scholarship money
- Eligibility: enrolled in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school
- Must have demonstrated resilience and potential for success in law school and practice
- Cannot participate in a similar scholarship program at another law firm
- DLLP Diversity Fellows may not split their summer with another law firm
How to Apply for a Summer Associate Position at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.:
- Primary recruiting event: Loyola Patent Law Interview Program in Chicago
- Encouraged to attend and apply for an interview with DLLP
- Participates in on-campus recruiting at leading national law schools
- Apply directly by sending a cover letter, resume, and transcript to ****
- Technical background required (degree in engineering or sciences and/or technical work experience)
- Interested in hearing from qualified 1Ls and 3Ls
- 1L students should submit applications after December 1
- 3L hiring varies, but encouraged to apply if interested
Interview Process at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.:
- Four or more 30-minute interviews at the New York office
- Morning and afternoon interview times available
- No requirement to attend lunches or dinners
- Director of Attorney Recruiting will inform candidates of expected response time
Expenses and Reimbursement:
- **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. typically covers ordinary costs related to call-back interviews
- Students required to complete NALP Travel Expense Reimbursement Form
Opportunities for Students with Offers:
- Encouraged to visit the office and meet with as many attorneys as desired
- Offer will be held open for up to two years for qualifying clerkships
Summer Program at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.:
- No billable hour requirement
- Typically spans ten to twelve weeks, from mid-May through early August
- Encouraged to spend entire summer with the firm
- Split summers considered on a case-by-case basis
- Dress code is generally casual, business attire recommended for first few days
- May have the option to travel for work-related assignments
Work Experience for Summer Associates:
- Given real, substantive work
- Same type of assignments as first-year associates
- Collect evaluations and feedback from each associate and partner
- Direct informal feedback in the middle of the summer
- Formal review process at the end of the summer

- Annual trial advocacy training for summer associates
- Multi-day mock trial experience with live witnesses, judge, and jury
- Real-time feedback from partners and NITA faculty
Opportunities to Interact with Associates and Partners:
- Informal lunches and dinners
- Several large events to interact with associates and partners in a casual setting
- Highlights the wonderful things New York City has to offer
Previous Summer Classes at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.:
- 5-8 second-year students (some returning after summering with us as first-years)
- 2-3 first-year summer associates
- Expected incoming summer class to be similar in size
Job Offer and Return Rate at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.:
- 100% of 2L summer associates have been given offers to return as full-time associates upon graduation
- 100% of 1L summer associates have been invited back for their 2L summer.
