Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly motivated Junior to Mid-Level Associate with 3 to 6 years of experience in transactional tax matters. The role is centered on advising clients in the financing and tax structuring of renewable energy assets, with a focus on clean energy development and tax credit monetization. The successful candidate will contribute to complex energy transition projects in a collaborative, forward-thinking legal environment.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on tax structuring and credit monetization related to renewable energy projects (., wind, solar)

  • Draft and negotiate financing documentation for energy infrastructure deals

  • Support sponsors, investors, and developers in project development and financing

  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to deliver holistic legal strategies

  • Stay current with evolving tax law and policy affecting the energy and infrastructure sectors

  • Conduct legal research, analysis, and client updates on federal and state tax incentives

Requirements:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience handling transactional tax matters, preferably in a law firm environment

  • Prior exposure to energy or infrastructure-related tax issues, including investment tax credits and production tax credits

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting

  • Strong analytical thinking and business-oriented legal judgment

  • Excellent communication and client service abilities

  • Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of the firm’s Washington, DC office

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive in

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of partnership and corporate tax structures

  • Familiarity with renewable energy finance and energy transition law

  • Proven legal drafting and negotiation skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams

  • High attention to detail and precision under tight deadlines
