A great place to work. on May 19, 2024 - Current Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Keep up the good work. Just keep doing what you are doing. The lawyer happy hours are also a great thing so continue those.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
I have been a shareholder at GM Law for approximately 5 years after having been with another firm for 35 years. GM Law is a great place to work. The shareholders who run the firm are very fair in how shareholders are compensated and they keep a careful eye on costs to improve the "bottom line". And most importantly, they leave the practice of law to each lawyer. The firm is also a very friendly place. I notice that many employees have on "happy faces".

What did you not like about this institution?
There is not one reason not to work here. It is a great place to work. Beautiful offices too.

Florida's Fastest Growing and Most Forward Thinking Firm on May 19, 2024 - Current Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time Current Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Occasionally too much centralized management, sometimes rising to the level of micro-management. The individual office managers should be given a little more autonomy then currently delegated. It would also be nice if we had more funds available to spend on outside (third party) CLE programs than are currently offered.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Gerry Greenspoon, one of the two founders of Greenspoon Marder, is a brilliant and entrepreneurial lawyer who encourages excellent work and attracts accomplished lawyers with lucrative practices. He and Michael Marder have established what is perhaps the first major firm to recognize the virtually unlimited potential of the cannabis business and how it will bring ancillary business to related practice areas such as tax, litigation, IP, tax and estate planning, M&A and real estate (which is what I focus on). Rarely do I find myself in a situation where a client has a need for consultation in an area outside my practice that can't be competently addressed by one of our attorneys in another sector. and if that happens, our network can be counted upon to find the right lawyer outside the firm. We have beautiful offices with terrific support staff, located in prime areas in all the cities we have locations.

What did you not like about this institution?
I really can't think of any reason not to work here. GM has a positive, diverse and competent workforce where there is appropriate tolerance of all lifestyles and work hours. Any negatives would be so petty as not to warrant mentioning.

A Growing Firm on May 19, 2024 - Current Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Current Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
It would be nice to have an opportunity to become a billable employee.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
The firm has grown a lot. It is a large firm, and has spread throughout the U.S. There are some friendly staff members here. It has a family environment.

What did you not like about this institution?
Due to its size, people don't always know each other. Partners managing the department are not very knowledgeable.

Large and Growing Law Firm on May 19, 2024 - Current Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Current Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Continue to invest in the firm and grow its size. It's great the way you are going and building a bigger and better firm will secure bright futures for a lot of workers.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
The firm is really growing very rapidly lately. This brings plenty of work and plenty of opportunity for advancement for hard working people. With offices sprinkled all around the country there is a really diverse set of people and skills in the firm now.

What did you not like about this institution?
The rapid growth has had its problems with organization. Divisions aren't lined up very well and there is confusion over who is going to be handling certain cases.

They are always enlisting new ways to communicate with the employees and provide fun events, either virtually or in person. We also have great benefits- which is so necessary during this time.ConsNone really, I truly enjoy working here.Advice to ManagementContinue to listen to the staff and their feedback, we can tell what a difference it makes. :)
