What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
The firm would do well to encourage employee wellness and allow them to get more rest on weekends. Employees should know in advance the kind of work environment that they will be working in.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
The firm rewards people who push themselves to the very limit of their endurance. So if that's you, you can expect bonuses and other rewards at the end of the year. Those who really distinguish themselves will have a chance at partnership track.
What did you not like about this institution?
Employee burnout is a huge problem here. Not everyone thrives in the fast paced environment of this law firm. Many will want to quit and find work elsewhere, because of the stress and long work hours.

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
There really isn't anything I can say or any advise to be given. Firm management always take the time to listen to you.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Hancock Estabrook cares about the health and wellbeing of its workers. They strive to assure everyone is treated fairly and with compassion. I have been here for over 20 years and I never entertained the thought of working anywhere else! We work hard but we have our fair share of fun! We have a wellness committee that schedules healthy and fun events for everyone here. We walk together every summer to the farmer's market. We have a new office environment that is conducive to sharing workloads so one person isn't always the busy one. There is always someone to lend a hand..
What did you not like about this institution?
I can't think of one reason not to work here unless it would be to tell others that we work hard and you can't expect to come into the firm and not do your work and help out others when you are not busy.
People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
There are no specific partners that need to be avoided for any reason.
How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
Café area overlooking downtown and Onondaga Lake. The attorneys really go out of their way to be positive and helpful to no only one another but the staff.

Our program introduces law students to our Firm, allows them to experience the practical aspects of private practice and helps them focus on one or more areas of interest. We give our summer associates responsibilities that resemble those of new associates. Each is assigned a supervising attorney and an associate mentor to help regulate the flow of assignments, facilitate exposure to different practice areas, provide guidance and feedback and generally act as a sounding board. Rather than confine our students to a formal rotation program, we expose our summer associates to all of our practice areas throughout the summer. While research and writing are important parts of the summer program, we provide our summer associates with numerous opportunities to attend client meetings, trials, depositions and motions.
