The Dangers of Getting Jobs Through Friends and Family

Clean house completely, and get rid of the old dead weight.
Hooper, Lundy, is a great source of entertainment. All you have to do is a search in their main computer server back up and see all the porn the support staff collected. If someone has time they should do a search by skin tone. Some of it was distributed to partners and the support staff who kept it are still working there. The former office manager, now Director of Accounting and Finance knew all what her now accounting personnel were doing, and that the “Records Manager,” who has worked there 30 plus years was doing. (“Joseph, anyone?”) The pics are so explicit involving animals, midgets, and champagne bottles, you can use your imagination and get hours of entertainment, after all there are printed emails floating around that the Direct of Accounting tried to get rid of. Hint to the Director of Finance and Accounting, shredding printed emails is not the solution, but getting rid of the emails is.
The fka COO, who still works there with her high school buddy in Accounts Payables
A great source for outrageously, truly sick and factually stories of now partners who were caught in offices with other Associates. SF is has plenty of hotels nearby, that you don't need to do the deed in the office.

Get rid of the firm name. It's become an industry-wide source of scorn, ridicule and embarrassment. Rebrand and clean house, from top to bottom. Get rid of those long-term employees who are otherwise unemployable elsewhere. Get rid of those employees who gained entry by nepharious means, i.e., son-in-law, high school classmate and "friends of management."
Condones its employees running side businesses during paid working hours. Supports the side businesses by permitting the usage of firm resources, i.e., internet, telephone, postage, supplies (i.e., printer toner cartridges). Characterizes its "managers" as those who manage inanimate objects (i.e., files, calendars, office supply rooms).
Rampant greed, disrespect, lack of professionalism. (Every Man Out for Himself)
To the person who named Devin Senelick, please elaborate. Just because Devin once urinated on a golf course hole doesn't mean you should avoid him. Just because he's a gossipy little twit doesn't mean you should avoid him. Just because he's a chauvinistic juvenile masquerading in an adult's persona doesn't mean you should avoid him (well, on a second thought, you probably should).
Great source of gossipy, but factual stories to share with prospective and future clients. (Buyers Beware)
Get a clue, and close up shop. Stop selling clients on the hopes of additional judicial proceedings that go nowhere.
Four functioning elevators that go down to the lobby at the end of your day. Culture allows partners to step down into "of counsel" positions post-sordid affairs with staff members. If you have any form of addiction, this is the place for you. Firm pays for 4 drug/alcohol rehabs, keeps your position open, pays your rent, etc., so long as you're "pleasing" the married partner (now of counsel) upstairs
Staff members with 25+ years' tenure who are otherwise unemployable. Unprofessionally incompetent department management personnel who openly display favoritism towards male subordinates. Not a "family," but a business. Gossipy, Backstabbing Culture. Childish attorneys and staff, alike. "Old Boys Club" is too generous a term. None of them are "Boys," but rather temper-tantrum throwing toddlers disguised as supposed adults.
All of them.
To the person who said it will be bought out one day, no respectable law firm or business would even think about buying this place after doing their due diligence.

Nothing
Dirty clients, attorneys who stab each other in the back, idiotic leadership, revolving door of associates, and to top this office everyone walks around thinking they are superior to all other law firms
Devin Senelick
No associates, lazy do nothing male partners who just golf and gossip, terrible work defending sleazy nursing homes responsible for sex crimes, exorbitant hourly rates make it impossible to build business, and rampant sexism
The male partners are a total boys club
That it will probably be bought out soon
I would increase pay as well as bonuses. I think it would increase attorney retention as well as improve firm morale. I find even with a great team if the pay is subpar it will run down morale.
I found working with both the paralegals and other associates here great. Barring minor gossip that is everywhere it was a joy to work and talk with people here. The cases themselves were interesting. I found the senior's helpful and seemed to be interested in everyone performing well. The support staff was treated great and well rewarded for what they did.
I found the pay below market value. Considering the amount of work per case there should have been more pay. I also found the bonuses lackluster compared to what others got at similar firms of a similar standing.
Thank you.
