Martin Luther King Jr. Internship Program
The program provides a paid, 10-week opportunity for talented law students to spend their summer experiencing the real world of legal aid advocacy. Will work under the supervision of seasoned attorneys in offices and projects across the state, bringing legal theory to life by doing substantive work on real cases for real clients.
The candidate will be responsible for Duties that Include: Legal Research, Interviewing Witnesses, Pre-Trial Discovery, Correspondence, Drafting Documents, Observing Court, Proceedings, Settlement Negotiations and Trial Practice. Areas of Practice Exposure include: Employment, Domestic Violence, Public Benefits and Housing. Must be 1L/2L Students.
Paralegal - Legal Services
The candidate will assist on contract administration / management and office administration / logistics. Will provide a wide variety of paralegal functions, including drafting complex legal documents and contracts concerning business transactions and acquisitions, conducting legal research into complex issues without specific precedence, and acting as a front-end interface with clients, staff and attorneys. Law Student Summer Internships
Students will have a variety of experiences both in and out of the office because we represent clients with all types of disabilities statewide on a wide range of issues including education, public benefits, disability civil rights, employment, housing, voting access, and accessibility.
Responsibilities: Provide litigation support for cases as a part of a team with licensed attorneys. Work independently while under attorney supervision to gather and synthesize documentary and testamentary proof for cases, maintain client communications, interview clients and witnesses, and update records in the office case management system. Lead an outreach team and conduct client education sessions. Limited evening or weekend work is required.
