Summary:

Legal, Compliance & Risk Counsel, North America position is available in 16 locations across the United States. The job is based in New York but candidates from other . locations where the company has an office will also be considered. The position will report to the Chief Counsel for North America and will support the corporate legal needs of the Guy Carpenter businesses. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department, excellent communication and negotiating skills, and the ability to work well in a team. The base salary range for this role is $107,900 to $215,800 and the position is eligible for performance-based incentives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Serve as a trusted advisor to various levels of company management on a broad range of Guy Carpenter’s reinsurance brokerage and risk advisory businesses in the US and Canada.
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts including client service agreements, RFPs, consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, vendor agreements, and technology contracts.
- Support the business in developing and negotiating strategic alliance agreements, joint marketing agreements, and referral agreements with third parties.
- Provide advice and counsel to the company’s innovation initiatives as they develop new products and solutions.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders at various levels around the world and be an integral part of streamlining processes and identifying efficiencies.
- Communicate with key stakeholders and leadership.
- Exercise sound legal and commercial judgment in providing advice and determining when to escalate issues.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department.
- Admitted to the bar in New York or in the location where the position will be based.
- Ability to be a creative problem solver and support a diverse range of commercial initiatives.
- Excellent judgment, communication and negotiating skills, financial acumen, project management skills, and a willingness and ability to work in a team.
- Keen attention to detail, excellent analytical ability, and discretion with confidential information.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, handle multiple priorities, and prioritize assignments efficiently.

Salary Information:

The applicable base salary range for this role is $107,900 to $215,800. The base pay offered will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
