Job Title: Lecturer - Business Law - School of Law
Job Responsibilities:
The role of a Lecturer in Business Law at a reputed firm includes key teaching responsibilities that contribute to the academic rigor and intellectual diversity of the institution. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Prepare and develop course materials, including the syllabus.
- Maintain a course website for students to access resources and updates.
- Hold regular office hours to provide student support and guidance.
- Assess student work and provide constructive feedback.
- Assign grades in accordance with academic standards.
- Advise students on academic and career-related matters.
- Contribute to the diversity and equal opportunity initiatives in higher education through teaching practices.
The position may involve teaching a variety of courses within the business law discipline, such as business associations, securities regulation, mergers & acquisitions, governance, antitrust, financial regulation, corporate and venture finance, ESG and business in society, bankruptcy, real estate law, international business transactions, law and economics, and other relevant subjects. Courses may be lecture-based or experiential, depending on the specific needs of the department.
Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree is required at the time of application.
Additional Qualifications:
- By the start date, candidates must possess a ., ., ., or Master's degree, or an equivalent international degree. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree combined with a minimum of five years of professional experience are also eligible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in a United States law school with outstanding student and peer evaluations.
- Over five years of legal practice experience in the United States or another jurisdiction, specifically in the area of Business Law.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the position of Lecturer in Business Law at a reputed firm is guided by the UC academic salary scales. The current full-time salary range for these positions spans from $68,247 to $192,040. The percentage of time for the position can vary from 5% to 100%, generally indicating part-time engagements.
