Job Title: Applied Researcher II
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team consisting of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to create AI-driven products that transform customer interactions with their finances.
- Utilize a diverse range of technologies such as Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, and VectorDBs to extract insights from extensive volumes of numerical and textual data.
- Develop AI foundation models through all stages, including design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
- Conduct impactful applied research, integrating the latest AI developments to enhance customer experiences.
- Translate complex work into clear business objectives through effective interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or having obtained a PhD, with an expectation of completion before the scheduled start date, plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in Applied Research, or a Master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience in Applied Research.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP) for PhD or a Master’s with 5 years of industrial NLP research experience.
- Multiple publications related to the pre-training of large language models.
- Experience as part of a team that trained a large language model from scratch.
- Publications in deep learning theory and at conferences such as ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, Neurips, ICML, or ICLR.
- Expertise in optimizing training for large deep learning models, including model sparsification, quantization, training parallelism, and model compression.
- Experience in fine-tuning large language models and knowledgeable in transfer learning and model adaptation.

- Cambridge, MA: $257,300 - $293,700 for Applied Researcher II
- McLean, VA: $257,300 - $293,700 for Applied Researcher II
- New York, NY: $280,700 - $320,400 for Applied Researcher II
- San Francisco, CA: $280,700 - $320,400 for Applied Researcher II
- San Jose, CA: $280,700 - $320,400 for Applied Researcher II
