Job Title: Law Internship, Fall Session

Job Responsibilities:
- Undergraduate interns will engage in various investigative aspects related to the interdiction and prosecution of criminal law violations, thereby enhancing their studies in Criminal Justice or related forensic or technical fields.
- Law interns are expected to engage with substantive areas of New Jersey criminal law, requiring excellent legal research and writing skills.
- All interns must possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
- Interns will have opportunities to observe and collaborate with Detectives and Deputy Attorneys General during their regular duties, which may include appearances before the Law Division (Criminal Part), Appellate Division, and occasionally the New Jersey Supreme Court.
- Participation in the Brown Bag Lunch Program, which includes periodic speaking/training events typically held via Microsoft Teams or at the Hughes Justice Complex, is encouraged. These sessions cover investigations, substantive law, and litigation techniques.
- Interns can participate in a mock trial program.

Education and Experience Information:
- The internship is open to undergraduate, graduate, and law students.
- Law students must submit a legal writing sample, indicating the necessity for strong legal research and writing capabilities.
- All applicants must provide a completed Internship Application, cover letter, resume, and the most recent official transcript.

Salary Information:
- The internship is an unpaid position.

Additional Information:
- Applications for the Fall Session (September through November) must be submitted by May 31.
- Applicants are encouraged to review the Division of Criminal Justice website to express their areas of interest and any geographical preferences.
- A Confidential Background Investigation Clearance Form is required for those offered a position in the program. The form must be completed, notarized, and submitted via email.
- The internship does not guarantee any particular assignment despite efforts to accommodate interests.
- The program is supervised by a Detective or a Deputy Attorney General, depending on whether the intern is an undergraduate or law student.
