Job Title: Deputy District Attorney I, II, or III

Job Responsibilities:
- Represent the District Attorney’s Office in criminal proceedings, which includes tasks such as scheduling cases, engaging in plea negotiations, conducting probation revocation hearings, handling motions, and managing sentencing processes.
- Review and evaluate summonses or tickets filed by law enforcement to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Examine evidence and witness statements to determine whether a crime was committed, the nature of the offense, and whether prosecution is justified.
- Maintain predictable attendance and make regular court appearances.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to effectively convey legal arguments and information.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the community, contributing to a positive work environment.
- Apply a strong understanding of legal principles, especially those related to criminal law, court procedures, and rules of evidence.
- Exercise independent judgment in legal analysis and decision-making to ensure fair and just outcomes.

Education and Experience Information:
- The position can be filled at the level of Deputy District Attorney I, II, or III, depending on the candidate’s qualifications.
- Deputy District Attorney I:
- No prior experience is required.
- Must possess an equivalent to a
- A current license to practice law in Colorado or the ability to obtain one within two months of hire is required.
- Deputy District Attorney II:
- Typically filled by advancement from the Deputy District Attorney I level.
- Must possess an equivalent to a
- A current license to practice law in Colorado or the ability to obtain one within two months of hire is required.
- Deputy District Attorney III:
- Generally filled by the advancement of a Deputy District Attorney II or similarly qualified candidate.

Salary Information:
- Deputy District Attorney I: Starting salary is $80,000 annually.
- Deputy District Attorney II: Starting salary is $87,500 annually.
- Deputy District Attorney III: Salary ranges from $98,000 to $105,000 annually.
