Job Title: Assistant Attorney General I-II

Job Responsibilities:
Assistant Attorney General I:
- Conducts entry-level to moderately complex antitrust and related litigation in state and federal courts.
- Initiates and conducts antitrust and related law investigations, including directing investigator and economist activity.
- Provides antitrust and related information to state and local governments.
- Performs all phases of civil litigation of antitrust cases, including drafting petitions, motions, pleadings, orders, briefs, discovery, and memoranda.
- Performs or directs legal research and reports findings and conclusions.
- Assists in or coordinates preparing cases for trial.
- Represents the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. in state or federal district and appellate courts.
- Prepares or coordinates the preparation of legal briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Offers legal advice, counsel, and assistance to client state agencies, local prosecutors, or law enforcement entities.
- Communicates with representatives of state agencies and consumers.
- Analyzes entry-level to moderately complex factual and legal issues and develops evidence for filing antitrust cases.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions.
- Attends work regularly in compliance with the agreed-upon work schedule.
- Ensures the security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.
- Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.

Assistant Attorney General II:
- All the functions of an Assistant Attorney General I, plus:
- Manages a docket of beginning and intermediate-level litigation cases and investigations.

Education and Experience Information:

Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Attorney General I:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas.
- Must be in good standing with the State Bar of Texas and eligible to practice law in Texas by the start date.
- Knowledge of antitrust law and legal principles and practices.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
- Skill in effective oral and written communication.
- Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision-making.
- Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to work in person at the assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at the designated OAG workspace within the OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every workweek (unless on approved leave).
- Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA.
- Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%.

Assistant Attorney General II:
- All of the above qualifications for an Assistant Attorney General I, plus:
- Experience: One year of full-time experience working as a licensed attorney in fields such as antitrust, complex civil litigation, or commercial litigation.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in antitrust matters or other document-intensive complex civil litigation.
- Knowledge of laws and legal principles and practices relevant to Texas and federal antitrust and trade regulations statutes.
- Abilities to provide expertise in specific and relevant areas of law to Executive Administration, division management, and division attorneys; handle or direct high-profile and/or complex litigation affecting the Antitrust Division; and serve as a mentor to division attorneys.

Salary Information:
- Salary Admin Plan: B
- Grade: 22 24
- Salary (Pay Basis): $6, - $7, (Monthly)
