Job Title: President and Executive Director
Job Responsibilities:
The President and Executive Director (ED) of the organization is responsible for leading a national nonprofit law firm that advocates for individuals harmed by the criminal legal system. The ED oversees a staff of 22 permanent attorneys, along with externally funded attorney interns and Fellows, making up an organization of 50 to 60 full-time employees. The ED is tasked with guiding the organization to vindicate the rights of individuals, hold those in power accountable, and work towards transforming the criminal justice system. Although the role does not involve regular client representation, the ED must possess sufficient litigation experience to effectively lead the legal team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic leadership and big-picture planning to advance the organization's mission.
- Overseeing litigation efforts and providing guidance to the legal staff.
- Managing organizational change and driving people and change management initiatives.
- Leading fundraising efforts to ensure the sustainability of the organization's work.
- Managing business operations and budgeting to align with organizational goals.
- Public speaking and representing the organization in various forums to advocate for justice reform.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the President and Executive Director role is expected to have a background that includes:
- Litigation expertise, with the ability to lead a team of experienced attorneys.

Salary Information:
The organization offers a competitive compensation package to attract an outstanding candidate for the President and Executive Director position. The anticipated range for total compensation, including salary and full benefits, is between $285,000 and $325,000.
