DESCRIPTION:
Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world's fastest growing technology companies. This role will provide a blend of counseling and transactional support to teams dedicated to engineering, supply chain, and procurement of the technology that powers AWS cloud services. The successful candidate will work directly with a wide array of teams across AWS to help develop and launch new hardware and manage the supply chain for these technologies deployed around the globe. This role will also involve identifying, counseling on, and resolving a wide array of commercial, operational, legal, and other issues related to intellectual property, vendor engagement, and negotiation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide business-line counseling to infrastructure engineering and supply chain teams to enable the development, manufacture, deployment, and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure technology globally for our customers.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial and technology-related agreements, including development, supply, manufacturing services, software licensing, and other bespoke agreements.
• Support and advise business partners on legal, commercial, operational, and other risks.
• Develop, advise on, and implement vendor engagement, contractual, and negotiation strategies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and resolve commercial, operational, compliance, regulatory, security, safety, legal, and customer/vendor issues.
Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of legal experience.
• Juris Doctor degree and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
• Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience at a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work.
• 2+ years at a leading law firm or in-house.
• Strong transactional, drafting, and negotiations experience of complex commercial or technology agreements.
• Proven track record of strong judgment in the absence of precedent.
• Experience providing legal counsel and support for regulatory and compliance matters.
• Experience providing prompt, practical, crisp, and actionable legal advice.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology.
• Ability to lead and influence cross-functionally to resolve complicated problems.
• Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor.

Compensation:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets and is based on factors such as market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market.
