Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Rochester, MN, seeks an experienced Estates and Trusts Attorney to join its expanding team. The firm specializes in estate administration and estate tax matters, with a particular focus on assisting farmers and business owners. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in estate planning and administration, and an analytical mindset to handle complex estate tax issues.

Duties:

• Manage trust and estate administration, ensuring smooth and efficient processes for clients and beneficiaries.
• Guide estate tax analysis, including credit shelter trust funding and estate tax return preparation (706, 709, M706, M706Q).
• Advise clients on complex estate tax matters and estate planning strategies, particularly for farmers and business owners.
• Supervise and coordinate with administrative staff, paralegals, and law clerks to ensure timely and accurate case management.
• Lead discussions with clients regarding asset distribution plans and ensure effective implementation.
• Ensure clients are properly represented at court hearings when necessary.
• Organize and maintain client files, ensuring all documentation is current and accurate.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering strategic legal solutions tailored to individual needs.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in estate planning and administration.
• Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota.
• Proven expertise in managing complex estate tax matters and guiding clients through trust and estate administration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when navigating emotionally charged or high-stress situations.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and meet deadlines.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• An undergraduate degree with a legal focus is required.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Minnesota.

Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of estate planning and trust administration.
• Proficient in preparing and filing estate tax returns (706, 709, M706, M706Q).
