Job Title: Litigation Manager (Enterprise Litigation)
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing high-profile, high-exposure legal cases, which may involve Executive Committee and/or Board of Directors awareness and have the potential for significant enterprise impact.
- Participates in formulating, communicating, and briefing case strategy to internal legal teams and/or business leaders.
- Prepares case evaluations and requests for settlement authority in cases with potential for significant enterprise impact.
- Researches moderately complex to complex cases, integrates information, and forms responses to legal and regulatory requests.
- Conducts case activities, including investigating case facts, creating litigation plans, reviewing and revising pleadings, and representing the company at mediations and trials.
- Reviews and analyzes files, policies, company documents, and witnesses to evaluate exposure, respond to discovery requests, and aid outside and in-house counsel in case strategy. Analyzes demographic or statistical data to mitigate risk.
- Participates in the legal discovery process, including preparing materials for production, deposition preparation sessions, and assisting in the identification and preparation of witnesses for depositions and trials.
- Creates Legal Hold documents and monitors the EDiscovery process to ensure compliance with State and Federal Rules.
- Identifies opportunities, synthesizes analyses, identifies root causes, and provides recommendations that influence litigation case solutions.
- Acts as a liaison with internal and external counsel, management, and other external parties. Applies proficient knowledge of litigation and its processes.
- Provides input and expertise on cases within a single Company Segment Area (CoSA) and may assist on cases impacting multiple CoSAs.
- Under minimal attorney supervision, researches, forms responses, and submits to legal and regulatory requests.
- Provides insight on issues and process improvements.
- Serves as a resource to team members, others in the General Counsel's office, and business clients.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum required) may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 4 years of experience in litigation as a paralegal handling complex litigation or relevant work.
- Proficient knowledge of relevant statutes, case law, and regulations in relevant discipline.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient knowledge of relevant enterprise discipline (labor & employment, or P&C, Bank, etc).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four plus years of active participation in mediations, depositions, witness preparations, contested judicial hearings, and trials.
- Experience with multiple litigation areas (examples: First-party insurance bad faith, class actions, or other complex commercial litigation).
- Experience with e-Discovery and litigation holds.
- Experience with case strategy development and implementation of litigation solutions.
- US military experience with skills related to one of the following MOSs: Navy (Legalman (LN), Marines (4402, 4405, 4406, 4410, 4411, 4417), Army (27A/270A), USAF (51JX / 5J0X1).
Salary Information:
- Compensation range: The salary range for this position is $77,120 - $147,390.
- Compensation: The company has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure competitiveness. The salary is paid within the range based on experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
- Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
