Job Title: Gender Equity and LGBTQ Rights Program Director

Job Responsibilities:
The Gender Equity and LGBTQ Rights Program Director is responsible for directing all advocacy efforts of the program, focusing on eliminating barriers to full and equal participation in employment based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and other intersecting forms of oppression. The Director will develop and execute a strategic plan for the program, identifying existing and emerging issues affecting these communities. The main responsibilities include:
- Developing strategy for the program in collaboration with the VP of Programs and Litigation, the Director of Litigation, and other legal staff.
- Overseeing the program's litigation docket, including class actions, representative actions, individual actions, and amicus work.
- Identifying areas for collaboration across program teams and overseeing collaborations with community partners.
- Managing the program administration, including preparing the budget, coordinating projects, supervising attorneys and staff, and assisting with grant applications and reports.
- Advocating for an intersectional approach to gender justice inclusive of QPOC, trans and non-binary individuals, immigrants, and other marginalized communities.
- Addressing issues facing workers who are LGBTQI+, women, or survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and developing legal challenges against anti-Trans efforts and legislation.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be active members of the California State Bar, although candidates located anywhere in the . who are willing to travel to California as needed are considered. The organization offers flexibility to work primarily from home, contingent on business needs and professional responsibilities. Strong preference is given to applicants with personal or professional experience working with impacted communities. The qualifications include:
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, civil rights work, and movement lawyering.
- Passion for the organization's mission of seeking justice for low-wage workers.
- At least 8 years of litigation experience, with a track record of impact and class action litigation.
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in setting and executing programmatic strategies and supporting grassroots organizing efforts.
- Strong relationships with community-based organizations and experience working with low-wage workers, LGBTQ, and/or immigrant communities.
- Experience in developing and litigating civil rights cases, including discovery, motion practice, hearings, trials, and/or appeals in state and federal court.
- Ability to lead and work collaboratively with a small team of attorneys and paralegals.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing competing deadlines.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Commitment to racial equity work and incorporating racial equity principles into legal advocacy.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to facilitate difficult conversations about protected categories.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and diplomacy in sensitive issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, leadership, and organizational abilities.
- Willingness to travel as necessary within California and other parts of the country for litigation, speaking events, meetings, and conferences.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of California employment law and court and/or administrative procedures.
- Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, or other languages commonly spoken by low-wage workers in California.

Salary Information:
**Members Only** offers competitive salaries within the public interest law community. Benefits include health plans, long-term disability and life insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan, and generous paid vacation and holidays. The position is part of the bargaining unit represented by ESC Local 20. Salary placement at hire and salary advancement follow the negotiated salary scale in the union contract. Attorney salaries range from $93,600 to $179,868, depending on years out of law school. This Program Director position receives an annual premium payment of $15,000 and is eligible for a language bonus of $75 per pay period.
