Law Firm Seeking Experienced Labor & Employment Attorney in Charleston, SC

Overview:

Shumaker, a premier law firm known for its excellence in legal services, is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina. This is a full-time, on-site position with competitive compensation and benefits. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in labor and employment law and a portable book of business.

Responsibilities:

- Provide counsel to clients on a variety of labor and employment matters
- Represent employers in state and federal employment law issues
- Handle wage and hour litigation, discrimination and retaliation actions, restrictive covenant and trade secret claims, and other employment-related disputes

Requirements:

- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active South Carolina bar license
- 7+ years of professional employment law practice experience
- Portable book of business required
- Strong technological skills, including proficiency with practice management systems and portals
- Superior research skills, including the use of online services and databases
- Project management skills, including the ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality

Physical Requirements:

- Sitting position static for up to one-half hour at a time
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to one hour per day
- Bending and stooping occasionally, up to one-half hour per day
