Job Title: Claim Director-Environmental

Job Responsibilities:
The Claim Director on the Environmental Claims team is responsible for managing and executing technical claim handling for both first-party and third-party voluntary pollution claims. This involves a comprehensive approach to claims management including investigation, coverage determination, reserving, negotiation, and settlement or trial strategies. The role requires the Claim Director to collaborate with internal and external business partners, and represent the company in various meetings, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and trials. Specific duties include:

- Developing and executing claim resolution strategies.
- Recognizing significant potential exposures on claims and preparing appropriate alerts to senior managers and internal business partners.
- Providing exceptional service to internal and external business partners.
- Analyzing and identifying coverage issues, preparing comprehensive coverage letters, and communicating coverage positions to appropriate parties.
- Directing and closely monitoring cases with financial impact from inception through trial/resolution.
- Setting reserves within authority or recommending reserve changes to management in a timely manner.
- Traveling to conferences, arbitrations, mediations, and trials as necessary, with travel ranging from approximately 5% to 10%, subject to business needs.
- Obtaining a resident or designated home state adjusters license and possibly additional state licensure, if not already possessed.

Education and Experience Information:
- In-depth knowledge of environmental and casualty claims is required.
- 2-5 years of direct claims handling experience is essential.
- Preference for candidates with an environmental specialist background.
- Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials from various sources.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
- Capability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based on detailed analysis of complex issues.
- Demonstrated strong relational skills, particularly in adverse or high-pressure situations.
- A law degree is recommended but not necessary.

Salary Information:
The pay range for the Claim Director-Environmental role is $79,300 to $134,700. The specific offer will depend on the applicant’s skills and other factors. The role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
