Job Title: Tax Manager, Core Tax Services
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Manager, Core Tax Services is tasked with advising clients on the tax implications of their business goals and exploring alternative strategies to mitigate tax burdens and compliance costs. This role involves acting as the primary contact for clients on complex tax issues, applying tax knowledge to identify potential risks, and communicating potential changes in tax policy. The Manager will also engage in marketing, networking, and business development within their area of expertise and specialization, and may provide written tax advice to clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens, and ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, and the **Members Only** Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
- Conducting top-level reviews of tax returns and resolving all tax issues with clients, involving specialists when necessary.
- Communicating any issues identified in tax accrual reviews with clients and Assurance.
- Planning and reviewing the tax process and procedures, including budgeting, staffing, monitoring engagement processes, timely billing, and managing client relationships.
- Providing timely advice to clients and identifying when research is needed, framing issues for research, and reporting analysis concisely.
- Applying firm policies, standards, and **Members Only** TQM regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48, and explaining components of income tax provisions and uncertain tax positions to clients.
- Assisting with developing, recommending, and implementing methods to maximize client benefits by reducing taxes.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues in specific areas of taxation and organizing internal training sessions.
- Introducing new or improved strategies to enhance clients' positions or reduce taxes and expenses.
- Supervising associates and senior associates, reviewing their work, providing feedback, and acting as a Career Advisor.
- Scheduling and managing the workload of associates and senior associates.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- Master's degree in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of relevant tax experience and/or experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services is required.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties is preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is preferred.
Software:
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software is preferred.
