Job Title: Legal Director - Technology Innovation Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide primary legal support to the technology and innovation team, offering strategic legal advice related to the development, testing, integration, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions, including artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.
- Work with cross-functional teams and attorneys globally to ensure intellectual property (IP), AI, privacy, and other legal, risk, and regulatory requirements are addressed.
- Align with the company's legal, regulatory, and risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with key business partners to advance strategic corporate initiatives, working closely with procurement, security, IT, risk management, eCommerce, innovation, global insights, marketing, and brand teams.
- Review, draft, and negotiate agreements for technology programs from initial proof of concept and evaluation agreements up to enterprise scale agreements.
- Define and align risk mitigation strategies for tech implementation, balancing legal, operational, and commercial considerations.
- Collaborate with local sector counsel to support global negotiations in technology innovation transactions.
- Handle transactional work involving complex technology agreements, including software, AI solutions, cloud/SaaS solutions, hardware, data licensing, professional services, confidentiality, consultant, and development agreements.
- Provide training and development related to best practices, emerging technology, responsible use of AI technologies, and innovation.
- Support the development of processes, policies, and governance related to innovation projects.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree from an accredited US law school and a license to practice law in the United States.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
- 7+ years of relevant legal experience, including at least 3-4 years at a top-tier law firm.
- Combination of law firm training and in-house experience with a major international company.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Understanding of . federal and state laws impacting technology, digitalization, AI, and innovation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of technology and ability to communicate with both business units and technology professionals.
- Interest and focus on continuous learning about innovative and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead key projects across various functions and groups.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a global environment and interface with all levels of management.
- Self-starter with the ability to thrive in an evolving organization and bring structure to unstructured situations.
- Prior technology innovation and transactional experience required.
Salary Information:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $125,900 - $249,900.
- Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting the actual starting salary.
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility with a target payout of 25% of the annual salary paid out annually, and an additional target payout of 10% of the annual salary paid out over three years following the end of the performance period.
- Long-term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance.
