Job Title: Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services

Job Responsibilities:

The Tax Managing Director is tasked with advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to minimize tax burdens and compliance costs, and identifying various methods of adhering to tax regulations. This position requires the individual to act as the primary client contact for complex tax issues, applying industry-specific knowledge to understand potential tax issues, communicate potential risks, and recognize potential changes in tax policy. The role involves making top-level decisions regarding the filing, preparation, and resolution of questions from federal and state agencies.

Key duties include ensuring clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, managing engagements to achieve engagement management metrics, and encouraging the team's adherence to the company’s policies and standards. The Tax Managing Director is responsible for framing research issues clearly and concisely, identifying complex issues for the engagement team to research, and reviewing tax accruals according to company policies and standards.

Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits, applying expert knowledge of tax processes to recommend solutions, and developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues in taxation. The Tax Managing Director introduces and develops new strategies to improve the position of clients and the company, potentially presenting these strategies to clients and prospective clients.

Supervisory responsibilities include supervising associates, senior associates, and managers, reviewing their work, acting as a career advisor, managing workloads, and providing performance feedback.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.

Experience:
- Ten or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience required.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience required.

License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) required.
- Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.

Software:
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.

- Ability to effectively delegate work as needed.
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills as well as decision-making skills.
- Capacity to work well in a team environment.

- Washington DC Range: $205,000 - $300,000
