Are you an experienced workers’ compensation attorney looking for a new opportunity? Join our team at GMS, a highly reputable law firm specializing in the defense of workers' compensation and related matters. We are currently seeking an Associate Attorney to join our team in Salinas, California, and work remotely.
As an Associate Attorney at GMS, you will be responsible for managing a full caseload of workers’ compensation cases, from evaluating the merits of the case to negotiating and litigating when necessary. You will also have the opportunity to work with a premier client base of insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers.
If you have at least 5 years of experience in the defense of workers’ compensation cases, strong negotiation and communication skills, and are comfortable with occasional travel, we would love to hear from you. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a full caseload of workers’ compensation cases of varying degrees of complexity
- Create litigation and budget plans as needed
- Conduct discovery and attend court appearances
- Try cases while maintaining exceptional client interaction
- Draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and correspondence
- Prepare cases for trial and effectively communicate with clients and opposing counsel
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in the defense of workers’ compensation cases
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to travel occasionally as needed
- Comfortable sitting for extended periods of time and lifting up to 20 pounds
