**Job Title: Associate General Counsel**

**Job Responsibilities:**
The Associate General Counsel (AGC) at the Department of Economic Security (DES) is responsible for a variety of legal tasks aimed at supporting the agency's mission to strengthen individuals, families, and communities in Arizona. Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinating legal services rendered by the Office of the Attorney General.
- Preparing legal opinions, correspondence, reports, issue papers, contracts, memoranda, and other related legal documents.
- Supporting the Office of the Attorney General and the agency’s outside counsel on litigated matters.
- Ensuring compliance with discovery requests or mandates related to litigation.
- Engaging in legal research projects and providing advice and consultation as directed by the Office of the General Counsel.
- Reading and interpreting statutes, case law, rules, and regulations.
- Assisting in coordinating all stages of litigation including notices of claim, pleadings, motion practice, discovery compliance, and trial preparation/practice.
- Identifying enterprise-wide legal matters and proposing solutions.
- Identifying significant litigation and major legal issues affecting the department and recommending courses of action.

**Education and Experience Information:**
The position requires:

- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the practice of law.
- At least one (1) year of litigation experience related to state and federal laws, rules, regulations, policy, and sub-regulatory guidance related to health and human services, care, benefits, and employment practices.
- Possession of an Arizona State Bar License to practice law in good standing.

**Salary Information:**
The salary for the Associate General Counsel position ranges from $110,000 to $125,000 annually. The position is classified under Grade 01 and remains open until filled.
