Job Title: Senior Associate
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Associate at the law firm is expected to engage in litigation and arbitration of complex insurance and commercial disputes. The role involves handling cases at both trial and appellate levels in US state and federal courts. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing pleadings, briefs, and other litigation documents.
- Drafting correspondence to colleagues and clients.
- Conducting legal research.
- Managing all aspects of pretrial to trial proceedings.
- Attending depositions, hearings, and mediations as required.
- Providing appeals and trial support.
The team has a focus on renewable energy insurance and handles a variety of cases including first-party property, marine, commercial general and excess liability, and construction disputes. The Senior Associate will represent both US and foreign insurers in litigation involving high-value insurance coverage disputes related to property damage, business interruption loss, and product liability exposure. Additionally, the role involves defense work in complex liability claims, including maritime, transportation, and commercial disputes. The team also deals with complex international commercial disputes in the marine and trade sectors.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be admitted to practice law in New York and have over 5 years of litigation experience. Essential skills and experience required for this position include:
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Senior Associate position is $190,000 to $215,000. This range considers various factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is noted that it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
