Salary: Unpaid, but offers valuable experience

Experience: Prerequisite course in Civil Litigation and/or Family Law required

Hours: Minimum of 12 hours per week, for at least one semester

Overview:

LASC offers an exciting internship opportunity for students currently enrolled in paralegal schools, colleges, and universities throughout LA County. This internship provides exposure to various divisions of the Court, including Family Law, Civil, and Criminal. Interns will also gain experience in preparing legal documents and have the opportunity to network with attorneys and other professionals in the field.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with preparation of legal documents for cases involving child support, spousal support, and health insurance issues
- Prepare letters of acknowledgement of service
- Gain an overview of Court procedures and procedures
- Participate in specialized programs such as the Family Law Facilitator’s Office and Self-Help Centers
