About the Position:
Grant Thornton is currently seeking a Transaction Tax Manager in Chicago, IL. This role offers the opportunity to lead innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance on M&A projects for multiple clients. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with a Master’s in Taxation or LLM in Taxation strongly preferred. They should also have a minimum of six to ten years of progressive federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience, and be a CPA or have an active law license. Experience in Corporate, S-Corp, and/or Partnership returns is required, as well as excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills. The Transaction Tax Manager will also be responsible for providing exceptional client service and communication, and must be willing to travel as needed. The salary range for this position in Illinois is between $152,000 and $228,000.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, develop, train, and mentor team members on M&A projects
- Maintain active communication during engagements to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction
- Work closely with Transaction Services colleagues on tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions
- Assist in conducting buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence and advising on tax efficient transactions
- Be involved in researching tax issues and preparing written communication
- Assist Senior Managers on project development and client pursuit initiatives
- Analyze a client’s tax attributes and perform detailed analyses of NOL/tax credit carry forward limitations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Master’s in Taxation/LLM in Taxation strongly preferred
- Minimum six to ten years of progressive federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience
- CPA or JD/active law license required
- Experience in Corporate, S-Corp. and/or Partnership returns
- Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills
- Exceptional client service and communication skills
