Job Title: Paralegal Technology Adjunct
Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal Technology Adjunct at a reputed firm is tasked with providing quality learning opportunities to assist students in achieving their educational goals and career aspirations within the Associate in Applied Science – Paralegal Technology degree, diploma, and certificate programs. Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating a strong commitment to the college's mission, vision, values, core skills, and learning outcomes by delivering instruction and services in a learning-centered environment.
- Developing learning strategies and curriculum that promote successful teaching and learning.
- Facilitating learning through various methods such as classroom activities, distance learning experiences, workforce development, and out-of-classroom activities.
- Actively engaging in continuous improvement planning through the assessment of learning outcomes at both course and program levels.
- Selecting and utilizing appropriate learning materials and resources, including textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and maintain program currency.
- Staying updated with developments in technology and learning theory.
- Demonstrating professionalism in developing and implementing long- and short-range plans aligned with the philosophy of a learning-centered college.
- Participating in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representing the college in the community.
- Developing partnerships with community stakeholders to support program and college improvement.
- Participating in program reviews, conducting research and surveys, and preparing updates, reports, and plans.
- Engaging in professional development to improve self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college.
- Maintaining current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position.
- Providing accessibility to students and colleagues in a learning-centered college environment.
- Accepting teaching assignments based on college needs at various campuses or community locations, including corrections settings.
- Accepting teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online.
- Participating in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities.
- Supporting the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant-related activities.
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Education and Experience Information:
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor Degree.
- One year of experience practicing law and/or teaching law.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one academic year of full-time teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
- Experience with online instruction via a course management system such as Moodle.
- Knowledge and/or experience with learning outcomes assessment.
- Demonstrated and documented innovation within the field of education and/or technology.
