Paralegal The candidate will assist in the preparation of cases from client intake through trial, and appeal if necessary, of a wide range of medical malpractice and personal injury litigation cases in Virginia state and Federal courts (DC is a plus). Assist attorneys in the Colorado office and elsewhere in the firm with various projects as needed that may not fall under the rubric of medical malpractice or personal injury. Perform legal research, draft discovery, pleadings, demand letters, etc.. Organize and maintain complex digital and paper case files; assist in the creation of effective trial exhibits and in any other tasks required throughout the life of every case. Locate, request, obtain, and organize the medical, employment, educational, government, and any other relevant records of clients--Must communicate consistently, and establish relationships with the providers of such information. Analyze and summarize incoming records and create Excel spreadsheets to summarize medical treatment timelines & costs, along with all other evidence in every given case. Manage the calendars of attorney and clients. Make travel arrangements, including flight and hotel reservations while keeping detailed record of costs incurred. Be capable of working in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment where duties, responsibilities and priorities change constantly in each case, and as required by the supported attorney(s) and every individual case. Be compassionate in dealing with clients who have been injured and families of persons who have died as a result of another person or entity's negligence. Keep in constant communication with each client, keeping them up to date with their case's status, and developing an excellent, stable, and caring relationship with each client. Should preferably have 2+ years experience in civil litigation, including handling medical malpractice and personal injury cases.
