Job Title: Senior Federal Litigation Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of complex federal litigation matters with a primary focus on defending Civil RICO and fraud claims.
- Develop and execute case strategies, including initial analysis, risk assessment, and planning for litigation and trial.
- Draft substantive federal court pleadings, including dispositive motions such as motions to dismiss and summary judgment, as well as discovery requests/responses, motions in limine, and related filings.
- Conduct and manage all phases of federal discovery, which includes navigating e-discovery protocols and taking or defending key depositions, both fact and expert.
- Prepare for and handle federal court appearances, which may be virtual or in-person, including status conferences, motion arguments, pre-trial conferences, and participation in trial proceedings.
- Conduct in-depth legal research using platforms like Westlaw, PACER, and other resources to support case strategy and drafting.
- Lead settlement negotiations and mediations.
- Collaborate effectively with partners, other associates, support staff, and clients, primarily in a remote setting.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in good standing in the State of New York.
- Admission to practice in the . District Court for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY) is essential. Admission to the Southern District of New York (SDNY) is a plus.
- Minimum of three years of demonstrable experience handling substantive aspects of federal litigation.
- Significant experience drafting federal court motions and pleadings.
- Experience managing federal discovery processes.
- Experience appearing as counsel of record in federal court proceedings.
- Direct experience working on Civil RICO and/or complex fraud cases is strongly preferred.
- Some first or second-chair trial experience in state or federal court.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw and PACER.
- Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle complex matters proactively in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience representing healthcare providers.
- Experience in New York No-Fault insurance law.
- First-chair trial experience in federal court.
- Experience with personal injury or workers' compensation litigation.
Salary Information:
- $150,000 - $250,000 per year.
