Job Title: Tax Managing Director, State & Local Tax (Sales & Use)
Job Responsibilities:
As a State and Local Tax Director specializing in sales and use tax, you will hold a pivotal leadership position within the department. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading and expanding the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, with a focus on sales and use tax.
- Providing high-level technical expertise and strategic planning to clients.
- Delivering client service excellence across a diverse portfolio.
- Managing complex tax engagements, including tax planning, compliance, due diligence, refund studies, audit defense, and tax controversy matters.
- Leading business development efforts to build and sustain long-term client relationships.
- Serving as a trusted advisor to clients on state and local tax issues.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to managers and staff.
- Contributing to thought leadership within the firm and representing the company at industry events.
- Working collaboratively in an entrepreneurial environment to drive growth and shape the practice's direction.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor of Science in Accounting is required.
- A Master’s in Taxation or LLM is considered a plus.
- CPA, JD/LLM, or CMI certification is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of state and local tax experience, with a specific focus on sales and use tax, is necessary. Experience in public accounting or a consulting environment is preferred.
- Proven experience in managing complex engagements and delivering high-quality client service.
- Strong technical research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including team development and mentorship.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
Salary Information:
The compensation range for this role takes into account various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate is $185, - $492, per year. However, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, as compensation decisions are dependent on the specific facts and circumstances of each case.
