Job Title: Software Engineer - Legal Prompt Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
As a Software Engineer - Prompt Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and managing LLM-driven experiences that enhance customer satisfaction. The role involves developing code that interacts with advanced LLMs, writing, testing, and iterating prose prompts leveraging legal domain knowledge to ensure accurate and contextually appropriate responses. You will also develop code for interactions with data sources and services such as APIs and SQL databases. Collaboration with legal professionals and internal teams at the company is essential to gather and understand requirements. Moreover, you will integrate language models into multi-step systems, assessing their performance and making necessary adjustments.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the role should possess legal domain expertise, which includes experience in legal practice, holding a JD in a non-traditional legal career path, or having experience as a paralegal or in another legal industry role. Applicants should have 3 to 4 years of production-level experience in software engineering, preferably in a startup environment. Proficiency in C# / Python is required, although strong experience in other programming languages may suffice if C# / Python skills are limited. Proficiency with APIs and SQL is considered a significant advantage. Candidates should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and creative and clear writing skills. Experience using large language models through code, such as model services from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Cohere, and/or open-source models like Llama and Mistral, is preferred.
Salary Information:
In the United States, the company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including market-competitive health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance programs, as well as a competitive 401k plan with company match. The base compensation range for this role varies across locations, with a range of $70,000 - $130,000 for eligible US locations. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is determined within the range based on factors such as an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is part of a comprehensive Total Reward program, which includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
