Job Title: Tax Manager, Core Tax Services

Job Responsibilities:

1. Tax Compliance:
- Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Ensure compliance of self and client service teams with company policies, standards, and the Tax Quality Manual.
- Conduct top-level reviews of tax returns and resolve tax issues with clients, involving specialists as needed.
- Communicate with clients and Assurance on issues identified in tax accrual reviews.
- Plan and review the tax process and procedures, including budgeting, staffing, and monitoring engagement processes.
- Manage client relationships and expectations in accordance with projects.
- Provide timely advice to clients.

2. Research:
- Identify when research is needed and clearly frame issues to be researched.
- Report analyses concisely and apply company and professional standards for preparing written tax advice and tax returns.
- Involve firm specialists as appropriate.

3. ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals:
- Apply company policies, standards, and the Tax Quality Manual regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Explain components of the income tax provision and uncertain tax positions to clients.
- Communicate with Assurance counterparts to plan tax accrual reviews.

4. Tax Consulting:
- Develop and implement efficient methods to maximize client benefits by decreasing taxes.
- Consider applicability of consulting specialties for each client.
- Serve as a technical resource and ensure compliance with company policies regarding written tax advice.
- Provide effective assistance with exam support.
- Delegate projects and issues effectively to seniors and associates.

5. Tax Specialization:
- Develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues in one or more areas of taxation.
- May be required to organize and conduct internal training sessions in the area of specialization.

6. Strategy Development:
- Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients or the company.
- Review studies of tax implications and offer clients alternative courses of action.
- Identify and leverage lessons learned from prior projects.

7. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Review work prepared by associates and provide feedback.
- Train associates and seniors on current software tools.
- Act as a Career Advisor and manage workload for associates and senior associates.
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback.

Education and Experience Information:

- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.

- Experience:
- Five or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.

- License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role preferred.

- Software:
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.

- Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively delegate work as needed.
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
- Capacity to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to compose written tax advice and maintain client relationships.

- Washington Range: $107,400 - $126,900
- Washington DC Range: $123,000 - $139,000
