Job Title: Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The paralegal position at the law firm involves comprehensive case management with a focus on workers' compensation claims. The candidate will be responsible for managing a large volume of cases in a fast-paced environment, requiring significant contact with clients, claims managers, vocational counselors, opposing counsel, and health care providers. Key responsibilities include:
- Investigating and analyzing workers’ compensation claims, identifying outstanding benefits, and developing and implementing case plans to secure them.
- Direct communication with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and other professionals.
- Conducting legal analysis, including the identification of appropriate Revised Code of Washington (RCWs), Washington Administrative Code (WACs), and judicial decisions.
- Preparing demand letters and other substantive correspondence.
- Participating in conferences with clients, medical providers, and vocational rehabilitation counselors.
- Resolving routine legal issues under attorney supervision and direction, including negotiation.
- Independently organizing, maintaining, and tracking a large volume of cases.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the paralegal position should possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree and/or a paralegal certificate.
- 2-3 years of prior experience as a paralegal or case manager.
- Experience in personal injury, medical legal, or employment practice is preferred.
- Ability to independently draft substantive correspondence, pleadings, and agreements.
- Exceptional organization, communication, and writing skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Desired Characteristics:
- Knowledge of industrial insurance laws and practice.
- Understanding of civil rules and procedures and Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals rules.
- Working knowledge of Clio or other case management software.
- Energetic and flexible with the ability to handle interruptions and shift focus when needed.
