Job Title: Associate Counsel, Litigation & Risk
Job Responsibilities:
- Assume primary responsibility for legal matters, focusing on personal injury cases. This involves hands-on work rather than merely supervising outside counsel.
- Collaborate with fellow Legal Team members to devise and implement litigation strategies that align with the company's broader business objectives.
- Proactively manage all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, witness preparation, and trial and appellate strategies.
- Analyze litigation matters to make informed decisions on resolution strategies, demonstrating the ability to understand, interpret, and apply current laws and regulations to the company's products and services.
- Efficiently manage outside counsel, including providing tactical guidance, overseeing staffing, case management, budgeting, and ensuring alignment with the company's broader legal strategy.
- Provide litigation-related guidance to management.
- Offer sound legal advice cross-functionally to other teams.
- Maintain effective communication with insurance carriers and other third parties.
Education and Experience Information:
- A minimum of 4 years practicing law at a leading law firm or in-house.
- . from a top-tier law school.
- Member of a state bar in good standing.
- Preference for candidates with prior in-house experience and experience advising technology clients as outside counsel.
- Preference for candidates with experience litigating in NYC courts.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive attitude to the workplace.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving environment.
- Ability to think quickly, maintain composure under pressure, and manage complex workloads, multiple client demands, and shifting priorities.
- Resourceful self-starter with a passion for results, embodying the company's culture, and operating with high standards and ethics.
- An understanding of the transportation and ridesharing industries, as well as the sharing economy in general.
Salary Information:
- The expected base pay range for this position in the New York City area is $144,000 - $180,000. Salary ranges depend on various factors, including qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The range is not inclusive of potential equity offerings, bonuses, or benefits. More information about the salary range specific to your working location and other factors can be provided by the recruiter during the hiring process.
