Paralegal/Legal Assistant I
Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal/Legal Assistant I operates under close supervision with assistance readily available. The main responsibilities include:
- Consulting prescribed sources of information to gather facts related to the program's interests.
- Reviewing documents to extract specific data and information related to particular items.
- Summarizing information in a prescribed format on case precedents and decisions.
- Searching and extracting legal references from libraries and computer data banks.
- Attending hearings or court appearances to understand administrative and/or court procedures and the status of cases, and assisting in presenting charts and other visual information when necessary.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization, which requires US Citizenship at this work location.
- This is an entry-level position.
- Requires some experience with the applications being supported.
- Knowledge of file manipulation applications and experience with LAW, IPRO, ICONECT, and Relativity is extremely helpful.
- Familiarity with the Government’s IT environment, including office automation networks, PC, and server-based applications, is very helpful.
- An undergraduate degree is preferred, preferably in computer science or information management/technology fields.
- Technical certification is valued.
