Job Title: Head of Management Liability, Financial Institutions, North America Claims
Job Responsibilities:
The Head of Management Liability, Financial Institutions, North America Claims at the company is responsible for leading and developing a team of claims professionals to provide superior service. Key responsibilities include:
- Direct supervision and management of a variety of claims, including Management Liability, Private Equity, Investment Advisors E&O and D&O, Insurance Professional Liability, Bankers Professional Liability, Transactional, and Contingent Risk.
- Investigation, analysis, and evaluation of coverage liability and damages in accordance with best practices.
- Providing aggregate reporting on the North America Financial Institutions Claims portfolio in collaboration with the Global Markets Claims team.
- Partnering with CMS and FI Underwriting & Professional Liability Actuarial on claim metrics, claim trends, and risk assessments, including quarterly reserving reviews.
- Developing a best-in-class panel for middle market segments of CMS and FI Claims, ensuring the right client is connected with the right defense counsel.
- Collaborating with the Head of Specialty Complex Claims on coverage disputes and litigation or arbitration initiated by company issuing companies.
- Formulating claims management strategies, managing outside defense counsel, and providing strategic direction for claims.
- Managing costs related to coverage counsel and litigation, collaborating with the Axis Claims Litigation & Vendor Management team to ensure cost management.
- Working with the general counsel team on errors and omissions issues arising from claims handling.
- Identifying trends and issues with liability and coverage, formulating processes and strategies for managing such claims, and ensuring consistent claims management.
- Supporting underwriting inquiries and information requests concerning policy construction and drafting.
- Actively coaching, mentoring, and developing employees for broader roles and responsibilities.
- Recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent, and developing succession plans.
- Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as brokers, insureds, attorneys, auditors, reinsurers, and vendors.
- Communicating extensively with senior executives, brokers, reinsurers, actuaries, insureds, and auditors.

Education and Experience Information:
- 7-10+ years of claims management experience in claims leadership of the specific lines of business.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills.
- A public profile and reputation for leadership and technical excellence.
- Ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels, both internally and externally.
- Analytical and data proficiency to drive results, make decisions, and drive outcomes.
- Understanding of immediate claim issues and broader portfolio impact and customer service impact of coverage disputes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience handling claims involving a wide variety of loss scenarios, including CAT losses.
- In-depth knowledge of claims, litigation, arbitration, and trial processes.
- A law degree and admission in good standing to one of the fifty state bars or educational equivalent is a plus.
- Travel is associated with this role, including team management, broker and client meetings, conferences, and other marketing activities.
