Job Title: Spring Intern
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in client-centered, holistic advocacy efforts.
- Conduct intakes and fact gathering for cases.
- Engage in direct client contact and manage case files.
- Perform research and writing projects on both small and large scales.
- Attend unit and all-staff meetings to stay informed and engaged.
- Observe court proceedings to gain practical insights into legal processes.
- Make court appearances if certified under 3:03.
- Receive supervision and mentorship in the assigned practice area.
- Participate in regularly scheduled Learning Lunches, Intern Meetings, and other group events, particularly during the summer internship.
Education and Experience Information:
- Open to law students at all levels and dedicated, thoughtful undergraduate students.
- Students from various law schools across the country are encouraged to apply for spring, summer, fall, and winter internships.
- No specific prior experience is required, but a strong interest in making a difference in the lives of low-income and elderly clients is encouraged.
Salary Information:
- The internships are unpaid.
- Students are encouraged to inquire with their schools about potential funding available for public interest internships.
- The organization assists with any required paperwork for fulfilling public interest documentation.
