Job Title: Spring Intern

Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in client-centered, holistic advocacy to support low-income and elderly clients.
- Conduct intakes and fact gathering to assist in the preparation and management of cases.
- Engage in direct client contact and case management to support ongoing legal matters.
- Undertake research and writing projects, varying in scope from small to large-scale tasks.
- Attend unit and all staff meetings to stay informed on departmental operations and goals.
- Observe court proceedings to gain practical insights into the legal process.
- Appear in court, if 3:03 certified, to represent the interests of clients.
- Engage in Learning Lunches, Intern Meetings, and other group events to expand legal knowledge and professional network.
- Receive supervision and mentorship in the designated practice area to enhance professional development.

Education and Experience Information:
- Open to law students at all levels and undergraduate students interested in making a difference in the lives of low-income and elderly clients.
- Dedicated and thoughtful college students are encouraged to apply.
- Interns are recruited from various law schools across the country for spring, summer, fall, and winter internships.
- Students from all schools with an interest in interning in the service area are welcome to apply.

Salary Information:
- The legal services internships are unpaid.
- Students are encouraged to inquire with their schools regarding funding availability for public interest internships.
- Assistance is provided with any required paperwork for fulfilling public interest documentation.

Additional Information:
- Internship applications are accepted throughout the year, with interviews typically conducted via Zoom.
- The summer intern cohort includes a comprehensive orientation, inter-office intern get-togethers, Learning Lunches, and various other events and learning opportunities.
- Recruitment for summer interns usually begins in January and continues through May or until all spaces are filled.
- Interns are placed in offices located in Lynn, Lawrence, and Lowell, with supervisors available in each office.
- Interns are asked for location and unit preferences to ensure the best possible match for their interests and career goals.
- Units available for internship include the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC).
- The internship experience is tailored to each student’s interests to ensure they gain valuable knowledge and skills from their participation.
