Job Title: Summer Law Student Advanced Internship
Job Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in complex pretrial and post-trial hearings.
- Conduct witness interviews and preparation.
- Engage in misdemeanor and felony trials.
- Participate in juvenile court proceedings.
- Develop general and criminal prosecution litigation skills.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must qualify under Iowa Supreme Court Rule for in-court student practice.
- Must be part of a law school-approved program and have completed one-half of law school credits.
- Evidence and Criminal Procedure courses are required prerequisites, typically completed in the second year of law school.
- Trial Advocacy is preferred but not mandatory.
- Completion of either the Polk County Prosecutor Internship or the Prosecutor Internship (outside Polk County) is required to be eligible for the Advanced Prosecutor Internship.
