Job Title: Staff Attorney - Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project (CVLAP)

Job Description:

- Seeking Staff Attorney with focus on domestic violence and elder abuse
- Part of statewide program in collaboration with other legal aid organizations
- Provide legal representation and advocacy to victims of crime, primarily domestic violence and elder abuse survivors
- Program funded by federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA)

Organization Overview:

- **Members Only** (MAP) works to advance safety, independence, and economic stability for those affected by poverty, racism, and other oppressive systems
- MAP has provided civil legal aid for over 50 years
- Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) has 5 legal aid offices serving 13 counties
- Focus on homelessness prevention, domestic violence and elder abuse prevention, and assistance with accessing healthcare, food, and needs-based income programs
- Manages 6 statewide programs serving immigrant communities, vulnerable older adults, victims of domestic violence and elder abuse, migrant and seasonal farmworkers, providing research and training support to legal aid advocates, and providing access to legal information for self-represented litigants

Qualifications:

- Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan or eligible to take next Michigan bar exam
- Demonstrated commitment to serving low-income individuals and underserved populations through lived or learned experience
- Experience with issues impacting domestic violence or elder abuse survivors is a plus
