Job Responsibilities:
The position of Legal, Asset Management Attorney, Vice President involves providing legal counsel and advice that supports activities across the company. The primary focus is on the firm's private funds business across different business units, situated within the Asset and Wealth Management (AWM) legal team. Responsibilities include advising on the regulation, establishment, management, governance, and marketing of private funds investing in securities in private and public markets. These funds include alternative investment funds, funds of one, managed accounts, and cover strategies such as primary commitments to external managers, secondary investing, co-investing, GP stakes and seeding, liquid and multi-strategy funds, and access funds. The role also involves supporting various portfolio management teams in executing transactions for investment funds and related accounts. Additional duties include identifying legal and reputational risks, managing external counsel, and involvement with investment and related committees. The AWM legal team also provides ongoing support for advisory, regulatory, and asset management issues. A crucial part of the role is contributing to the analysis and formulation of strategic responses to evolving legal and regulatory frameworks.
Education and Experience Information:
- A minimum of 4+ years of related legal experience in a well-regarded law firm or an in-house role is preferred.
- Familiarity with fund structures is required, and working knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act is useful.
- Candidates should have outstanding law firm and law school credentials.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment are essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Candidates should be motivated to expand their skill set and excel in a challenging business environment.
- The role requires a team player adept at developing interpersonal relationships.
