A law firm seeks a mid-level attorney to join its Litigation & Enforcement team in Washington, ., focusing on antitrust compliance and government review matters. This role offers significant involvement in merger-related risk assessment, regulatory investigations, and client advocacy before federal and state agencies.

Duties

  • Perform antitrust due diligence for merger and acquisition transactions, identifying and evaluating competitive concerns

  • Analyze transactional and conduct-based antitrust risks, coordinating review processes through interviews with clients and discussions with opposing counsel

  • Draft and review transactional documents addressing antitrust provisions and compliance considerations

  • Lead responses to compulsory requests (., “Second Requests”) in investigations by the FTC, DOJ, and state antitrust authorities, including preparation of presentations, white papers, and client witness preparation

  • Provide strategic guidance on antitrust compliance, keeping internal teams and clients apprised of evolving regulations and enforcement trends

  • Represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and litigation related to consent agreements or other enforcement actions

  • Supervise and mentor junior associates on antitrust research, drafting, and investigation procedures

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience advising corporate clients on antitrust laws, particularly in pre-merger due diligence and risk assessments

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Second Request processes and defending clients in FTC, DOJ, or state antitrust investigations

  • Strong analytical capabilities and negotiation aptitude when addressing complex competitive issues

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly in writing and interpersonal interactions with clients and cross-functional teams

  • Active admission to practice in the District of Columbia

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the . Bar (required)

Skills

  • In-depth understanding of current . antitrust statutes, regulations, and enforcement mechanisms

  • Experience conducting antitrust risk analysis in corporate transactions

  • Ability to manage large-scale document productions and coordinate complex investigation logistics

  • Excellent drafting skills for briefs, presentations, and compliance memoranda

  • Strong interpersonal skills for training junior team members and liaising with clients, regulators, and opposing counsel
