Senior Claims Examiner, D&O

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Claims Examiner is responsible for managing and overseeing an assigned caseload of various claims, including Public D&O, Private Company D&O, Financial Lines, and Private Equity-related claims. The role involves identifying and assessing coverage issues, drafting coverage position letters, and retaining coverage counsel when necessary. The Senior Claims Examiner is tasked with developing and implementing strategies related to coverage issues, liability, and damages. Key responsibilities include maintaining contact with claim staff, business line leaders, underwriters, defense counsel, and brokers, as well as investigating claims and reviewing relevant documents. The role requires the identification and review of applicable statutes, rules, and case law for each jurisdiction, and involves reviewing litigation materials such as depositions and expert reports. The Senior Claims Examiner must analyze and direct risk transfer and contractual indemnity issues, retain and direct counsel according to resolution strategies, and analyze coverage, liability, and damages for reserve recommendations. Additional duties include preparing and presenting reports to senior management, attending mediations, trials, and proceedings, negotiating claim resolutions, evaluating defense counsel invoices, maintaining a claims diary, and responding to inquiries from insured parties, counsel, underwriters, brokers, and senior management.

Education and Experience Information:
A Juris Doctorate degree is preferred, while a Bachelor's degree is required. Candidates should have 5-7 years of experience managing professional liability claims processes at a carrier, broker, or law firm. Proper adjuster licensing in all applicable states is preferred. Candidates should possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and have strong evaluation, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills. The role requires strong time management and organizational skills, the ability to engage in strategic discussions, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is necessary. The position requires a willingness and ability to travel 25%.

Salary Information:
For individuals assigned or hired to work in the specified location(s), the base salary range is $150,000 to $175,000. The position is incentive eligible, and total individual compensation, including base salary and short and long-term incentives, will consider factors such as geographic location, role responsibilities, qualifications, talent availability, specialization, and business needs. The pay range may be modified in the future.
