Job Title: Paralegal - Immigration Law Project

Job Responsibilities:
- Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach using an anti-oppressive lens in interactions with clients.
- Coordinate and conduct in-depth intake interviews with clients to gather basic demographic information and assess eligibility for immigration relief.
- Draft legal documents and prepare petitions for submission under the supervision of attorneys for administrative applications.
- Provide support to project attorneys on complex immigration matters.
- Offer legal information, advocacy, and referrals to clients.
- Maintain data for project grants and assist in preparing grant reports for funders.
- Conduct presentations and training sessions for immigrant communities, community-based organizations, and law enforcement officials throughout New York City.
- Develop and maintain relationships with individuals, organizations, and government agencies within the immigration advocacy community nationally and the legal community in the New York region.
- Serve as an internal resource for organization staff by answering questions and making educational presentations.

Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
- Strong commitment to public service, particularly in working with immigrant populations and survivors of crime and abuse.
- Applicants should have community service experience and possess excellent organizational, oral, written, and analytical skills.
- Essential to have knowledge and understanding of immigration and refugee issues, dynamics of domestic violence, and cultural competency.
- Prior experience in immigration services or with crime victims and survivors of domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence is highly preferred.
- Candidates who are BIA Accredited Representatives or are willing to obtain certification are strongly preferred.

Salary Information:
- Hiring Range: - per hour
- Full-time Hours: 35 hours per week
